The intense floorwork workshop by Switchmeister and Malena is a conceptual workshop where the participants can observe and learn our interpretation of intensity. The workshop focuses on some exercises that can help build up a scene which can be physically and emotionally intense. There will exercises on improvisation and smoother body handling as well.
The workshop is designed to not teach you patterns to copy but to understand the decision making process, I.e "why are we doing what we are doing" and of course it's perfectly okay to replicate those patterns but you can use our contextual exercises and make them your own!
We recommend if you could discuss with your partner, what intensity means for you and them. Ask questions and negotiate on things like close body contact, physical and emotional intimacy, eye contact, hair pulling, soft limits and hard limits, and ask each other if you have any history of medical issue such as fractures or if you have a weak spot (like an ankle) for example. Just a casual conversation on what would make things intense for you.
Workshop etiquette: we have a "underwear stays on" policy for our workshops. Topless is okay, which is in line with the venue rules. If however someone indicates to us in private message that they are not okay with topless-ness from other people, we will kindly and happily accommodate this request!
