De Zweethutceremonie is een oeroud ritueel van de Native Americans. Je bent met natuur omringd en werkt met de elementen; aarde, vuur, water en lucht. Hierdoor verbind je je met de kern van het leven en jouw levensstroom. Een zweethutceremonie staat bol van oude rituelen en bezinning, doorgegeven door de Lakota People aan het Westen.
De Inipi (Lakota voor “House of the first breath”) is gemaakt van wilgentakken, een soort iglo. We starten de avond met elkaar in de stenen ceremonie en daarna maken we het vuur aan. Daarna is ruimte voor ontspanning & bezinning, terwijl we wachten tot de stenen heet zijn en klaar voor de Zweethut. Op een gegeven moment gaan we de Zweethut in, wat volgens de Lakota de baarmoeder van de Moeder Aarde is. Na de Zweethut sluiten we de dag rond het vuur gezamenlijk af.
Maurits begeleidt de Zweethut en zit zelf al ruim 18 jaar in de Inipi. Met ervaring in verschillende tradities, is Lakota de basis van Maurits zijn training gedurende de jaren.

The Sweat Lodge Ceremony is an ancient ritual of the Native Americans. You are surrounded by nature and work with the elements: earth, fire, water, and air. Through this, you connect with the core of life and your own life flow. A sweat lodge ceremony is rich with ancient rituals and reflection, passed on by the Lakota people to the West.
The Inipi (Lakota for “House of the First Breath”) is made of willow branches, shaped like a kind of igloo. We begin the evening together with a stone ceremony and then light the fire. After that, there is space for relaxation and reflection while we wait for the stones to become hot and ready for the Sweat Lodge. At a certain point, we enter the Sweat Lodge, which according to the Lakota represents the womb of Mother Earth. After the Sweat Lodge, we close the day together around the fire.
Maurits guides the Sweat Lodge and has been participating in the Inipi for more than 18 years. With experience in different traditions, the Lakota tradition has been the foundation of Maurits’ training over the years.
