Spring into Summer Celebration
A dance ritual with live African percussion and singing bowls

On saturday, May 2, we invite you to a contemporary dance ritual in which we celebrate the transition from spring into summer — within ourselves, in rhythm, and in the collective.
This is a time when life begins to flow more powerfully — blooming, manifesting, moving outward. At the same time, this transition calls for grounding, presence, and embodiment. In this dance ritual, we explore precisely this dynamic tension: increasing vitality, carried by a deep connection to body and earth.

The evening unfolds as a dance journey with live polyrhythmic percussion from Benin and improvised music and sound healing.
Beninese dance and musical culture is known as one of the most grounding and polyrhythmic traditions in Africa.

We open the evening with a libation to the ancestors and create space for personal intentions.
We tune deeply into the body and build a strong collective field and rhythm — in the circle and within ourselves. Movement alternates between free dance and collective movement in the circle, carried by the drums.

We close the evening gently with a sound healing, allowing the experience to settle and integrate.

The rhythms and libation are carried by Christophe, Edouard, and Samson from Benin, Peter Wilms supports the percussion and will take care of the soundrelaxation to integrate the experience in the closing of the evening.
Together with this beautiful musical team, Mieke guides the dance journey throughout the evening.

For lovers of conscious dance and rhythm and anyone curious and open to African rhythms and movement.

Please note:

We dance barefoot. No (outdoor) shoes or shoes with black soles are allowed in the space.
Water, tea, and fruit will be provided.
